OUR STORY

When Amber's grandfather Bob Barry passed away, he left her mother the property that the farm was originally on. They built the house and shortly after, Amber began riding. When she was 16 she had the option for a car or a horse, and she obviously went with the horse. With some clearing of land and a small run-in shelter, her horse career had begun. With many years of lessons, 4-H, horse shows, learning from different trainers, and moving from barn to barn, she furthered her education and training as a professional horsewoman. After life took over and the loss of her beloved show horse Jubilee, she thought that chapter in her life was over. Fast forward to 2014- Amber got JoJo, her clever and lovable mini donkey, and then her horse Hailey. A slew of little girls wanted to learn how to ride, so in 2017 when her brother and his family moved into the house, they agreed to improve the property and grow the lesson program. The barn and property slowly became the perfect small farm, more children joined the lesson program and horse camps, more horses joined the barn, and Bridle Barry Farm grew. Amber started Hearts Healed by Horses, a program where children struggling with grief can experience the joy of horses. In 2022, Amber moved to a property on Stage Coach Rd in Durham, CT, and the farm grew with even more horses, more people, and more opportunities for the future.
